Why us

Why Refinish Instead of Replace?

Choosing to refinish kitchen cabinets rather than replace them entirely offers homeowners significant advantages that extend beyond simple cost savings. Understanding these benefits helps you make an informed decision about your kitchen upgrade project.

Dramatic Cost Savings Cabinet refinishing typically costs 40-60% less than full cabinet replacement. While new custom cabinets can easily run $15,000-$40,000 or more for an average kitchen, professional cabinet painting ranges from $4,000-$9,000 depending on kitchen size and scope. This substantial savings allows homeowners to allocate budget toward other kitchen improvements like new countertops, backsplash, or appliances, creating a comprehensive kitchen refresh for the price of cabinets alone.

Environmental Responsibility Refinishing existing cabinets is an eco-friendly choice that keeps perfectly functional cabinetry out of landfills. Cabinet demolition and disposal creates significant construction waste, while replacement consumes new materials and manufacturing resources. By refinishing, you're choosing sustainable home improvement that reduces your environmental footprint while achieving beautiful results. Quality cabinets built decades ago often feature solid wood construction superior to many modern options, making preservation the smart environmental choice.

Faster Project Timeline Cabinet replacement projects typically require 6-12 weeks from ordering to installation, plus additional time for template creation, demolition, and potential plumbing or electrical modifications. Professional cabinet refinishing typically completes in 5-7 days, minimizing disruption to your daily routine. You'll enjoy your refreshed kitchen weeks or even months sooner than with replacement, and the process involves far less mess, noise, and inconvenience than demolition and reconstruction.

Preserve Your Existing Layout If your current kitchen layout functions well for your needs, refinishing lets you keep the storage configuration, dimensions, and arrangement you're accustomed to. Changing cabinet layouts often triggers cascading expenses including new countertops, backsplash modifications, flooring repairs, and potential electrical or plumbing relocations. Refinishing updates the aesthetic while preserving the functional aspects that already work, delivering transformation without unnecessary complexity or expense.

Quality Construction Worth Preserving Many older cabinets feature solid wood construction, dovetail joints, and quality hardware that surpasses modern production cabinets in the same price range. If your cabinet boxes, frames, and doors remain structurally sound, refinishing capitalizes on this quality foundation while updating the appearance to match contemporary styles.

Cabinet Painting Services

ProFlow Painting provides comprehensive cabinet refinishing solutions for every room and cabinet type in your home. Our versatile services adapt to your specific needs, delivering professional results regardless of location or cabinet style.

Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinet painting represents our most popular service, transforming the heart of your home with great results. We handle projects of all sizes, from compact galley kitchens to expansive gourmet spaces with extensive cabinetry. Our process addresses the unique challenges kitchen cabinets face, including grease accumulation, food residue, and high-traffic wear patterns that require specialized prep techniques.

We refinish all kitchen cabinet components including wall cabinets, base cabinets, drawer fronts, and decorative elements. Our spray application delivers smooth, even coverage without brush marks, creating a flawless finish that mimics factory-applied coatings. We pay special attention to high-touch areas like handles and edges, applying durable finishes engineered to withstand daily use.

Bathroom Vanities

Bathroom vanities face unique environmental challenges including humidity, water exposure, and temperature fluctuations. Our bathroom cabinet refinishing service uses moisture-resistant primers and topcoats specifically formulated for bathroom conditions. We understand the importance of proper surface preparation and adequate curing time to ensure long-lasting adhesion in these demanding environments.

Whether you're updating a single powder room vanity or refinishing cabinets throughout multiple bathrooms, we deliver consistent quality that complements your bathroom's aesthetic while standing up to moisture and daily use.

Built-In Cabinetry

Custom built-in cabinets add character and functionality throughout homes, from living room entertainment centers to bedroom closet systems and office cabinetry. We refinish all types of built-in cabinetry, breathing new life into these permanent fixtures. Our color matching capabilities ensure refinished built-ins coordinate seamlessly with your home's overall design scheme.

Built-in refinishing often requires working around installed components like shelving, lighting, or media equipment. Our experienced team carefully protects these elements while delivering thorough coverage and professional results.

Pantry & Laundry Cabinets

Utility space cabinets deserve the same attention to detail as main living areas. Refinishing pantry and laundry room cabinets extends your home's cohesive design into these functional spaces, creating a polished, finished appearance throughout. These projects often present opportunities for high-impact visual improvements at relatively modest investment.

We work efficiently in these typically compact spaces, minimizing disruption to essential home functions while delivering the same quality finishes we apply to kitchen cabinetry.

Islands & Hutches

Kitchen islands and standalone hutches offer opportunities for creative color applications. Many homeowners choose contrasting island colors to create focal points, pairing rich navy, forest green, or charcoal islands with perimeter cabinets in white or light neutrals. We provide color consultation to help you explore these design possibilities and execute your vision with precision.

Freestanding hutches, china cabinets, and display cases receive the same same thorough refinishing process as installed cabinetry, whether you're matching existing finishes or creating intentional contrast.

Our Professional Cabinet Refinishing Process

ProFlow Painting follows a systematic seven-step cabinet refinishing process that ensures superior adhesion, durability, and aesthetic results. Understanding our methodology helps you appreciate the craftsmanship behind the transformation.

1. Assessment & Color Consultation

Every project begins with thorough assessment of your existing cabinets. We evaluate cabinet condition, construction type, current finish, and any damage requiring repair. This inspection identifies potential challenges and allows us to recommend appropriate solutions.

During color consultation, we discuss your design goals, review color samples, and consider how cabinet color coordinates with countertops, flooring, backsplash, and wall colors. We provide expert guidance on finish sheens, hardware options, and color psychology to help you make confident decisions. Our experience with hundreds of cabinet projects informs recommendations that balance aesthetic preferences with practical considerations.

2. Careful Removal & Labeling

We systematically remove all cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware, labeling each component to ensure proper reinstallation. This detailed organization system prevents mix-ups and guarantees doors return to their original locations where they fit precisely. We carefully transport removed components to our climate-controlled spray facility or dedicated on-site spray area, protecting your home from overspray and finish odors.

Hinges, pulls, knobs, and other hardware receive careful handling. We can refinish existing hardware, recommend replacement options, or set aside your chosen new hardware for installation upon completion.

3. Degreasing & Cleaning

Kitchen cabinets accumulate cooking grease, oils, and residue that prevent proper paint adhesion. Our thorough degreasing process uses professional-grade cleaners specifically formulated to remove these contaminants without damaging cabinet surfaces. We clean all surfaces including cabinet boxes, frames, doors, and drawer fronts.

This critical step eliminates the primary cause of paint failure on kitchen cabinets. Inadequate cleaning leads to poor adhesion, premature peeling, and disappointing results. We invest the time required to ensure perfectly clean surfaces ready for optimal primer and paint bonding.

4. Sanding & Prep

Proper surface preparation creates the foundation for lasting results. We sand all surfaces to remove the existing finish's glossy layer, creating a profile that promotes primer adhesion. Our process addresses surface imperfections, smoothing rough areas while preserving cabinet details and profiles.

We fill nail holes, dents, and damage with quality wood filler, then sand these repairs flush for invisible results. Edge and detail work receives hand-sanding attention to ensure complete coverage without damage to delicate moldings or routed details. After sanding, we vacuum all surfaces and wipe them down to remove every trace of dust before priming.

5. Primer Application

We apply bonding primer specifically formulated for cabinet refinishing. Quality primer creates the essential bridge between old finish and new topcoat, ensuring long-term adhesion and preventing bleed-through of wood tannins or previous stain colors. Our primer selection varies based on cabinet material and existing finish type, ensuring optimal performance for your specific situation.

Spray application delivers uniform primer coverage including edges, corners, and detailed areas that challenge brush application. We apply appropriate primer thickness for proper coverage without runs, sags, or excessive buildup that creates texture issues.

6. Spray Finish Coats

We apply multiple topcoat layers using professional HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray equipment that atomizes paint into fine particles for furniture-quality finishes. Spray application eliminates brush marks and roller texture, creating the smooth, flawless surface homeowners expect from professional refinishing.

We typically apply 2-3 topcoat layers depending on color, coverage, and desired durability. Each coat receives adequate flash-off time before the next application, ensuring proper drying and optimal final hardness. Our controlled environment minimizes dust contamination during the critical drying period.

7. Curing & Reinstallation

Modern cabinet paints require adequate curing time to achieve full hardness and chemical resistance. We allow appropriate curing before careful reinstallation of all components. During reinstallation, we ensure proper door alignment, smooth operation, and correct hardware placement.

We provide care instructions for newly painted cabinets, including guidance on initial curing period precautions and long-term maintenance practices that preserve your beautiful new finish.

Cabinet Paint & Finish Options

Selecting appropriate paint products and finishes for cabinet refinishing significantly impacts both appearance and performance. Understanding your options helps you choose finishes that match your aesthetic preferences and durability requirements.

Conversion Varnish vs. Latex Enamel Professional cabinet refinishing employs two primary finish types. Conversion varnish (also called pre-catalyzed lacquer) offers superior durability and very smooth finish quality, representing the gold standard for cabinet finishes. This professional-grade option cures through chemical reaction, creating an extremely hard, chemical-resistant surface that withstands kitchen demands beautifully.

High-adhesion cabinet enamel provides excellent results for homeowners seeking proven performance at accessible pricing. Modern cabinet enamels feature advanced acrylic formulations that deliver impressive durability, smooth leveling, and easy maintenance. These waterborne finishes offer low odor and easy cleanup while delivering years of service.

Sheen Options Cabinet finish sheen affects both appearance and practical maintenance considerations. Matte and satin finishes create sophisticated, contemporary looks that minimize surface imperfection visibility while offering reasonable cleanability. Semi-gloss finishes provide easier cleaning and greater durability, better resisting moisture and frequent wiping. Higher sheens reflect more light, creating brightness in kitchens while showing surface irregularities more readily.

Most homeowners select satin or semi-gloss finishes for kitchen cabinets, balancing aesthetic preferences with practical cleaning requirements. Bathroom vanities often benefit from semi-gloss's superior moisture resistance.

Popular Cabinet Colors Cabinet color trends evolve, but certain colors maintain enduring popularity. Classic white remains the most requested cabinet color, offering timeless appeal and bright, clean aesthetics that complement virtually any design style. Off-white and cream tones provide warmth while maintaining light, airy qualities.

Gray cabinets in various tones from pale silver to deep charcoal continue strong popularity, offering sophisticated neutrals that pair beautifully with diverse countertop and backsplash options. Navy blue, forest green, and other rich colors create dramatic statements, often featured on islands or lower cabinets paired with lighter uppers.

Hardware Considerations Cabinet hardware significantly impacts the overall aesthetic result. Refinishing presents an ideal opportunity to update dated hardware with contemporary options. We can fill old hardware holes and drill new ones to accommodate different pull sizes or style changes from knobs to pulls. Hardware finish should coordinate with faucets, lighting fixtures, and appliances for cohesive design.

Cabinet Painting Cost Guide

Understanding cabinet painting costs helps you budget appropriately and appreciate the value proposition compared to cabinet replacement. Multiple factors influence final project pricing.

Per Linear Foot Pricing Cabinet painting typically costs $80-$150 per linear foot of cabinetry, with most Sacramento area projects averaging $100-$120 per linear foot. This measurement includes both upper and lower cabinet runs along walls, though islands and specialty cabinets may be priced separately. An average 10x10 kitchen with 20 linear feet of cabinetry typically costs $4,000-$6,500 depending on door count, finish selection, and project complexity.

Larger kitchens with 30-40 linear feet of cabinetry generally range from $8,000-$12,000, while compact kitchens or single vanity projects may start around $2,000-$3,000. Door count significantly impacts pricing since each door requires individual removal, preparation, spraying, and reinstallation labor.

Factors Affecting Cost Several variables influence final project pricing beyond simple linear footage. Cabinet construction complexity matters, with raised panel doors, intricate moldings, and decorative details requiring additional prep and finish work. Glazing, distressing, or specialty finish techniques add artistic labor time.

Current cabinet condition affects pricing, with heavily damaged, previously painted, or deteriorated cabinets requiring extra preparation. Color changes from dark to light typically require additional primer and topcoat layers for complete coverage. Two-tone kitchens with different upper and lower colors involve additional masking and application complexity.

Hardware replacement, new hinge installation, or door/drawer repair add to base refinishing costs. Geographic location within the Sacramento metro area, project access considerations, and timeline requirements can influence final pricing.

Comparison to Replacement New cabinet installation costs vary dramatically based on quality and customization level. Stock cabinets from big-box retailers start around $4,000-$8,000 for basic kitchens but often feature particleboard construction and limited options. Semi-custom cabinets typically range $12,000-$25,000, while custom cabinetry easily exceeds $25,000-$50,000 or more.

These replacement costs include only cabinets themselves, not associated expenses like demolition, disposal, countertop replacement, backsplash modifications, plumbing adjustments, electrical work, or flooring repairs that cabinet replacement often necessitates. When accounting for these cascading costs, replacement projects frequently exceed $30,000-$60,000.

Cabinet refinishing delivers dramatic aesthetic transformation for $4,000-$12,000 in most cases, representing 40-60% savings compared to replacement while preserving quality existing cabinet boxes and maintaining functional layouts that work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does cabinet painting take?

Professional cabinet painting typically requires 5-7 business days from start to finish for an average kitchen. The timeline includes removal day, prep and priming (1-2 days), spray application (1-2 days), curing time, and reinstallation day. Larger kitchens or projects with extensive repairs may extend to 7-10 days.

Timeline varies based on door count, finish complexity, and weather conditions affecting curing time. We provide specific timeline estimates during consultation based on your project's unique characteristics. While the process requires about a week, this represents dramatically shorter timeframe than cabinet replacement projects that typically span 6-12 weeks.

Can I use my kitchen during the process?

Your kitchen remains partially functional during most of the cabinet painting process. We work systematically, completing sections while leaving others accessible. You'll have limited access to cabinet contents, so we recommend removing essential items before we begin and planning for simplified meal preparation during the project.

The brief period when fresh paint is curing requires avoiding cabinet use to prevent fingerprints or damage to uncured finish, typically just the final 24-48 hours. Many homeowners plan the project around brief trips or schedule it for times when minimal cooking is needed. We work efficiently to minimize disruption to your daily routine.

Will painted cabinets chip or peel?

Professionally painted cabinets using proper preparation, quality materials, and correct application techniques provide durable finishes that resist chipping and peeling for many years. The key lies in thorough surface prep that ensures proper adhesion and paint products formulated specifically for cabinet applications.

Modern cabinet paints cure to hard, durable finishes that withstand normal kitchen use including cleaning, daily door operation, and typical wear. While any finish can chip if subjected to sharp impacts, professionally refinished cabinets demonstrate impressive resilience. Following proper care guidelines during the initial curing period and using gentle cleaning practices afterward ensures long-lasting beauty.

Do you paint cabinet interiors?

Standard cabinet refinishing includes only exterior surfaces - cabinet faces, doors, drawer fronts, and visible cabinet box exteriors. Most homeowners choose to leave cabinet interiors unpainted since they're rarely visible and interior painting significantly increases project cost and timeline without proportional aesthetic benefit.

However, we offer interior painting as an optional service for glass-door cabinets or situations where interiors are visible and important to overall appearance. We discuss interior painting options during consultation so you can make informed decisions based on your priorities and budget.

How do I maintain painted cabinets?

Painted cabinets require gentle, appropriate cleaning to maintain their beauty. Use soft cloths and mild dish soap diluted in warm water for routine cleaning, avoiding abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemicals that can damage finish. Wipe up spills promptly to prevent prolonged moisture exposure.

During the first 30 days after refinishing, treat cabinets gently while paint continues curing to full hardness. Avoid heavy scrubbing or harsh cleaners during this period. After full curing, your cabinets will handle normal cleaning well.

Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, scouring pads, or aggressive scrubbing that can dull finish or create scratches. Use cabinet door bumpers or soft-close hinges to prevent slamming that stresses paint over time. Promptly address any chips or damage to prevent moisture infiltration that could compromise adhesion.

What about cabinet hardware - refinish or replace?

Hardware decisions depend on current hardware condition and your design goals. Existing hardware in good condition can be cleaned, spray painted, and reinstalled for budget-conscious projects. However, outdated hardware styles often benefit from replacement to complete the kitchen's transformation.

We provide hardware recommendations and can install new pulls, knobs, and hinges as part of your project. Hardware replacement offers opportunities to change styles from traditional to contemporary or switch from knobs to pulls. New hardware typically costs $3-$10 per piece depending on style and finish selected, representing modest investment with significant visual impact.

If new hardware requires different hole spacing, we fill existing holes and drill new ones precisely positioned for proper installation. We coordinate hardware finish with your cabinet color and existing fixtures for cohesive design.

Can you change cabinet door style?

While refinishing updates cabinet color and finish, it doesn't change door style or profile. Flat slab doors remain flat, and raised panel doors retain their profile. However, we can replace existing doors with new ones in different styles if you want to modify door appearance beyond what refinishing alone achieves.

Door replacement combined with cabinet box refinishing costs more than refinishing alone but still provides significant savings compared to full cabinet replacement. This hybrid approach updates style while preserving quality existing cabinet boxes, offering middle-ground option between refinishing and replacement.

We can also add decorative elements like trim, molding, or glass inserts to modify existing door appearance, creating customized looks that enhance your kitchen's character.

How soon can painted cabinets get wet?

Modern cabinet paints dry to touch within hours and can handle light exposure relatively quickly, but full curing requires time. We recommend avoiding prolonged moisture exposure for the first 7-10 days after completion. Brief water contact from normal use is acceptable after initial drying, but avoid soaking or aggressive wet cleaning during this period.

After 30 days, paint reaches full cure and chemical resistance, handling moisture exposure just like factory-finished cabinets. Following these precautions during the curing period ensures long-term durability and adhesion. We provide specific care instructions tailored to your project's finish products and environmental conditions.

Pricing factors

What drives the price of cabinet painting and refinishing in Sacramento

Every estimate is line-item — no flat-rate guessing. These variables move the number on your project, in order of how much they typically affect total cost.

  • Number of doors and drawer fronts

The primary unit count — each door and drawer front is sanded, primed, and sprayed individually.

  • Cabinet box condition

Boxes with grease buildup, delaminating veneer, or previous paint failures require extra prep time.

  • Stain-to-paint conversion

Converting stained wood requires a bonding primer system that conventional paint-over-paint doesn't need.

  • Finish type selected

Conversion varnish and lacquer carry higher material costs than standard cabinet-grade enamel.

  • Hardware replacement

Installing new pulls and hinges adds time but is often coordinated at project closeout.

  • Number of rooms

Adding bathroom vanities or built-ins to a kitchen project adds doors and boxes but uses the same mobilization.

  • Color change complexity

Dark base colors require additional primer coats to fully block bleed-through under lighter topcoats.

Room breakdown

Every room we paint, and what changes between them

  • Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinets are the most common refinishing project. Upper cabinets, lower cabinets, pantry units, and islands are all included in a full kitchen scope. Doors and drawer fronts are removed, labeled, and transported to our spray facility or finished in a mobile enclosure in your garage. Cabinet boxes are prepped and coated on-site behind dust barriers. The kitchen is functional with limited access throughout the project.

    • All uppers, lowers, island, and pantry
    • Remove, label, and spray doors off-site
    • Box prep and spray on-site
    • Hardware labeled, bagged, and reinstalled
  • Bathroom Vanity

Bathroom vanities see daily moisture exposure, so we use moisture-resistant bonding primer and cabinet-grade enamel rated for high-humidity environments. Single vanities can often be completed in two days. The bathroom remains usable throughout since vanity boxes stay in place — only doors and drawer fronts are temporarily removed for spraying.

    • Single and double vanity units
    • Moisture-resistant primer and enamel
    • Doors sprayed off-site
    • Hardware reinstalled same day
  • Built-Ins & Bookshelves

Entertainment centers, built-in bookshelves, fireplace surrounds, and window seat storage are finished with the same process as kitchen cabinets. Fixed shelving that cannot be removed is masked and sprayed in place. Removable doors and face frame components are taken off-site for the smoothest possible finish in a controlled environment.

    • Entertainment centers, bookshelves, fireplace surrounds
    • Fixed shelving sprayed in place
    • Removable components finished off-site
    • Consistent finish across all built-in elements
  • Laundry & Mudroom

Laundry room and mudroom cabinets are often overlooked but benefit from the same refinishing process as kitchen units. These spaces typically have fewer doors and drawer fronts, so the scope is smaller and can sometimes be completed in a single day. Heavy-duty enamel handles the wear from cleaning supplies, sports gear, and daily utility use.

    • Laundry room base and wall cabinets
    • Mudroom lockers and bench storage
    • Heavy-duty enamel for utility spaces
    • Completed in one to two days
  • Stain-to-Paint Conversion

Converting honey oak, cherry, or walnut stain cabinets to a painted finish is one of the most dramatic kitchen transformations available. The process requires a bonding primer formulated to adhere to the existing stain or topcoat without sanding through the veneer. White, soft white, and warm gray are the most requested colors — navy and two-tone combinations are increasingly popular in Folsom and El Dorado Hills homes.

    • Degloss and bonding primer system
    • Stain-compatible primer coat
    • Two topcoats in selected color
    • Touch-up paint and documentation provided
  • Cabinet Color Change

Changing previously painted cabinets to a new color follows a similar process to a fresh refinish. We degloss the existing topcoat, spot-prime any bare areas, and apply two coats in the new color. Dark-to-light changes require an additional primer coat to fully block the original color. Most color change projects are completed in three to five days.

    • Degloss existing topcoat
    • Spot prime bare or repaired areas
    • Two topcoats in new color
    • Third coat for dark-to-light changes

Products we use

Brands and product lines we specify in Sacramento

  • Sherwin-Williams

    • Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel (cabinets)
    • Cashmere (light duty built-ins)
    • All Surface Enamel (utility spaces)

Emerald Urethane is our primary cabinet enamel — it levels exceptionally well in a sprayer, cures to a hard film that resists daily kitchen contact, and is available in any Sherwin-Williams color.

  • Benjamin Moore

    • Advance Waterborne Interior Alkyd (cabinets)
    • Aura (built-ins and bookshelves)

Advance is an alkyd hybrid that combines water cleanup with the hard, slow-cure film of traditional oil paint. It self-levels beautifully and is especially suited for stain-to-paint conversions where maximum adhesion matters.

  • Dunn-Edwards

    • Aristoshield (cabinets and trim)
    • Spartashield (high-humidity vanities)

Aristoshield holds up in high-contact kitchen environments and is a local product with reliable stock through Dunn-Edwards' Sacramento-area stores.

Local context

Sacramento neighborhoods and how their homes paint differently

  • East Sacramento & Land Park

Older craftsman and Tudor homes in these areas often have original wood cabinets with decades of stain and varnish layers. Stain-to-paint conversions are common, and the bonding primer system is critical to adhesion on these aged surfaces.

  • Midtown & Downtown Condos

Condo kitchens in Midtown are often small with builder-grade cabinets ripe for a color refresh. Low-odor products and careful dust containment are important in these multi-unit buildings where neighbors share walls and HVAC.

  • Folsom & El Dorado Hills

Larger newer homes in these foothill communities frequently have honey oak cabinets from the early 2000s. Two-tone kitchen finishes — white uppers, navy or charcoal lowers — are a popular request here.

  • Roseville, Rocklin & Lincoln

Master-planned community homes in these cities tend to have larger kitchen footprints with more door and drawer count. These are efficient projects for our spray crew given the consistent, flat cabinet door profiles common in tract builds.

  • Pocket & Greenhaven

1970s–80s homes in the Pocket often have original laminate or painted wood cabinets. Degloss and bonding primer are essential here — the existing finish needs to be properly prepared before any topcoat will hold long-term.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it better to refinish or replace cabinets?+

Refinishing is the better choice when your cabinet boxes are structurally solid and you are happy with the layout. It saves 40 to 60 percent compared to full replacement—an average Sacramento kitchen runs $4,000 to $9,000 to refinish versus $15,000 to $30,000 to replace. Refinishing also avoids demolition, countertop removal, plumbing disconnection, and the 4- to 8-week lead time that new cabinets require.

How long does cabinet painting take?+

A typical kitchen with 20 to 30 doors and drawer fronts takes 5 to 7 working days from start to finish. Day one covers removal and labeling of hardware, doors, and drawers. Days two through four are prep, priming, and spraying at our facility or mobile enclosure. Days five through seven are reassembly, hardware installation, and final adjustments. Smaller projects like bathroom vanities can be completed in 2 to 3 days.

Can we use the kitchen while cabinets are being painted?+

You will have limited kitchen access during the project. Cabinet boxes remain in place and are usable once their coats have dried, typically by end of each work day. Doors and drawers are off-site or in the spray enclosure for 3 to 4 days. We recommend setting up a temporary station with a microwave, coffee maker, and essentials on a folding table to keep disruption manageable.

How durable are spray-applied finishes on high-touch areas?+

Very durable. Our multi-coat system starts with a bonding primer designed for slick surfaces, followed by two coats of high-adhesion cabinet-grade enamel or conversion varnish. The result resists chipping, scratching, and moisture from daily kitchen use. These finishes hold up to regular cleaning and maintain their appearance for 8 to 12 years under normal conditions.

How do you recommend cleaning newly painted cabinets?+

Use a soft microfiber cloth with warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Wipe in the direction of the grain or finish lines, then dry with a clean cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges, Magic Erasers, and ammonia-based cleaners—they can dull or scratch the finish over time. For stubborn grease near the stove, a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water works well without damaging the topcoat.

What if a cabinet finish fails after the job?+

If a finish on our cabinet work fails — peeling, adhesion failure, finish defects from our application — call us and we come back and fix it. We don't issue a multi-year workmanship warranty; we'd rather respond to the actual problem. The coatings themselves carry the product manufacturer's warranty. We leave labeled touch-up paint at project completion for minor nicks.
